The Cornelius Difference

Early treatment of spinal conditions is very important to help the patient get well quickly and to save health care dollars. Therefore I see patients on weekends and evenings when necessary. My home phone number is 319-895-6392.

X-rays are a great tool for Chiropractic. They show me where your spinal problems are and how severe they are. They show degenerated discs, spinal curvature (scoliosis), fractures, arthritic changes, birth defects, bone diseases and much much more. In my office I X-ray your spine, analyze the X-ray and go over them with you in detail. Your X-rays are also put up on the view box each and every time you are in. That way I can quickly refer to them if you have questions about your care.

I use diagnostic instruments to show me where there is nerve pressure in your spine. This along with X-rays and motion palpation shows me exactly where to adjust your spine. This reduces healing time and keeps the number of office calls at a minimum.

In my office I adjust skin-on-skin. Therefore, the men take their shirts off and the women wear a dressing gown with the opening in the back. This takes extra time but it gives me direst access to the back for instrumentation, visual examination and for adjusting. Studies show that adjusting through clothing can cause the doctor’s hand to slip to the wrong vertebra. With skin-on-skin adjustments there is no slippage, the patient gets a better adjustment and they get well faster.

Because our female patients change into a gown they have a separate dressing room. In this room there are private changing cubicles, a relaxing massage chair and magazines more suited to the female patient.

I treat injuries to knees, shoulders, wrists ankles and etc. as well as the spine. Most of my post-graduate study has been in the area of Orthopedics/Sports Injuries. I have therapies such as ultra sound and muscle stimulation available in my office to speed your healing process. For patients who need extra help, I can provide them with an exercise program to tone specific muscles too prevent future occurrences of your problem. I also have custom fitted arch supports available for patients with bad feet.

I use the Gonstead adjusting technique while treating patients. Dr. C.S. Gonstead was an architectural engineer before he became a Chiropractor. He looked at the spine from an engineering standpoint to find the stress points. He devised his X-ray analysis and adjusting technique over his 52 years in practice in Mount Horab, Wisconsin. It is a very precise adjusting system. Only the problem vertebrae are adjusted leaving the healthy ones undisturbed.
